Summary

Asher helps around the yard as the weather warms up.

The oncoming of spring brings two unfortunate inevitabilities: taxes and yard work.

Since we just finished filing our taxes our attention has turned to beautifying the yard. Thankfully the weather has been nice and Asher has been more than eager to do his share around the house. Here are a few snapshots from our progress.

Now if we can just get him to water the plants as much as he waters the dirt.

Summary

Asher and I take a quick trip down some steep stairs.

Visits to Aaron and Katrina’s place are always fun. Because Aaron just added a wonderful plasma TV to his house, he still had the oversized box that it came in lying around.

Asher was immediately drawn to the infinate adventures that are to be had in an empty cardboard box, so one thing led to another, and next thing you know, we're riding in the box down a flight of stairs.

Summary

Who would have thought that Stonehenge was just a few hours west of Austin?

On Friday, we closed up shop at work early in the afternoon which left plenty of time for another Cochran family adventure. For quite some time I had been planning a trip out to what is known as Stonehenge II.

Built in 1989 in the middle of a field about 2 1/2 hours west of Austin, Stonehenge II is a life-sized replica of the famous site in England. Since I figured a total of 5 hours driving was way better than 20 hours flying to see the real one, I opted to give this faux version a shot.

Summary

Finally carving out some usable space in the garage.

Over the weekend, Dad was gracious enough to let me borrow his Sams Club card while he was in town so that Jill & I could buy some heavy duty shelves for storage in the garage.

While we were assembling the shelves we noticed that one of the pieces was badly bent, so we sent the girls off to the store with the bend piece to get it replaced. While we waited for them to return, Dad had a great idea to turn a few saw horses he had given me into a work table.

So yesterday, Asher and I went over to the new Lowes near us and picked up a piece of MDF and went to town: [click thumbnails to enlarge]


All in all, I’m very happy with how it turned out, and I’'m even happier to have the space in my garage back!

Summary

Dad and I head out to the range to test out his new toy.

On Saturday, Dad came into town to purchase and test out his newest toy: a Ruger 44 Caliber Pistol.

Needless to say, it was a lot of fun to shoot but it packed a mighty punch.
