On Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, Spencer announced that the entire family (whithout exception) would be playing in a backyard football game. The teams were divided; Dad, Jill, Zane & Spencer on one side; Mom, Tiffani, Travis & Aubrey on the other.

We didn't keep score, but the end result was that everyone had quite a bit of fun.

Thanksgiving at our house this year went really well. In total we hosted 6 of our family: Tiffani, Travis, Spencer, Aubrey, Mom & Dad. The main task of the day (besides eating turkey) was building a swingset in the backyard for Asher.

Since its construction, Asher has wanted to do nothing but swing and slide even though it has been averaging 50 degrees outside.

Just a few pictures of Asher that we have taken recently.


Asher really likes to type on the wireless keyboard we use to control the media center in the living room. We alternate story time in the evenings with learning the ABCs on a keyboard. Apparently he was a bit tired.


He is also learning how to use keys and doorknobs. He has gotten pretty good at getting the car key in the door, although the ignition is another story.

Asher has a favorite toy that he likes to carry around with him: a little yellow rubber ducky. So one evening I ask him what sound a ducky makes and he replies:

In an attempt to keep better track of what we are hitting, we invested the extra 50 cents to get black targets that turn green when you hit them. Overall, it was a success until we started to rapid fire on the range. Can you guess whose target has the huge shotgun slug through the center?



Matthew and I were curious to see what affect it would have on the target so, sure enough, Matthew was able to peg the target down the middle at 50 yards.

Yes, this year I am taking a stand and putting my full support behind Robocop and Unicorn. I think they offer the change this country really needs.

This year was our first year celebrating a real Halloween because it is the first year we have had a house and that Asher was old enough to have some fun. Asher dressed up as doctor with scrubs that Jill made and a stethoscope that Zane photoshopped onto the picture below. He even had glow-in-the-dark Crocs that ended up giving him blisters on his ankles.


Asher went to a few houses to trick-or-treat but had fun hanging around our place (I dressed up as Albert Einstein) and playing in the candy bowl.

We got some nice compliments on the decorations, but there is definitely some room for improvement. I set up computer-controlled strobe lights around the garage with scary music and a laser/fog setup I had been working on.
