Here is a cool photo Justin took of my laser light machine. The way the machine works is that a laser bounces off of a small mirror that is placed on top of a speaker. As music comes through the speaker, the mirror vibrates and forces the laser to create spirograph patterns on the ceiling.

Matthew and I hit up the range to test out the shotgun he recently bought. You can’t shoot regular buckshot while other people are on the range, so we had to shoot slugs, which instead of tiny little BBs (shot) is a large chunk of solid lead.


Needless to say they pack a punch.

Matthew (of Graphic Engine Design) likes to sketch on George Washington's face on $1 bills and spend them to see people's reactions, so I had him do a few to frame and put up in Asher's room.

After Maker Faire, Aaron and Katrina came over to watch UT play Missouri and to carve pumpkins. Asher was unsure about sticking his hands into the gooey innards of the pumpkin, but he soon got used to it.



The girls did most of the carving while the guys did most of the football watching. The end result of these efforts was that UT won and this:

On Saturday, Asher and I decided to go check out the 2nd Annual Austin Maker Faire. Jill had a study group up in Austin that afternoon, so we decided that would be the perfect time to get away for a couple of hours and go see all the do-it-yourself invention goodness.

At the center of the Travis County Expo Center stood a 1,600 square-foot Plexiglas enclosure—the infamous battleground for the RoboGames Texas Cup.

Afterward, we checked out ArcAttack’s Musical Tesla Coil show, where the team played nostalgic themes from popular old-school Nintendo games using only arc lightning and a solenoid-activated drum kit. Asher, a life-long techno fan, clapped along to the beat.
